I am inspired by light, color, and texture found in quotidian scenes I happen upon during my travels, and my hope is simply to convey a sense of place.
What moves me, though, is when I find, in a quiet, secluded, or isolated location, vestiges of former lives having been lived -- for example, a lovely wallpaper, crumbling and yellowed, peeling gracefully from a wall in an abandoned hacienda in the Yucatan; old coins left on an overgrown outdoor altar in Japan; or perhaps an unusual and carefully considered but disintegrating arrangement of personal tokens placed in front of a decrepit gravestone in Cuba. These types of things I think of as extraordinary ordinary things and for some reason they make me feel alive.
When I'm not out wandering around, I live in San Francisco, CA. Please feel free to contact me -- I would love to hear from you.
